As part of an effort to get away from big tech (and just a project for it's own nerdy sake) I've been tinkering with this $30 2012 Thinkpad. I already ditched my iPhone for a Light Phone that I pre-ordered way back in mid-'24, but I decided to take this more economical route with my computer. I have been an Apple user for most of my life, so after installing a Linux operating system (Mint Cinnamon), I made it look and function essentially like my Macbook Pro. Surprisingly not very hard! Web browsing, free programs that function like Photoshop and I managed to make a few demos to prepare for the 4-track sessions with Jake. Essentially all the things I use a computer for. Plus it's a model (T430) that is super easy to upgrade and modify--something I've also dipped my toes into.

Spent a cloudy afternoon over at frequent collaborator Jake Brady's cozy Christmas-ified apartment a few weeks ago. Had a really great demo recording session on his ancient 4-track. Managed to get three guitars, bass, two vocals and drums onto a little cassette tape thanks to Jake's mixing wizardry. You can hear the brand new demo over on my Patreon right now actually!

Been catching up on movies from this year. A pretty sweet and funny (though not all that spectacular) Jay Kelly was on last night. This line was pretty relatable:

RIP Brandon, who drew this when he first met me:

Been exploring Martin Newell's music lately. Hearing albums created on 4 track and reading little tidbits about touring via bicycle has been refreshing and inspiring. I actually learned how to record on a Tascam Porta 2 and might be getting back in to 4 track recording now that i have the space for it.

Returning from 40 dates touring the US with a brand new (but already so comfortable!) band and feeling like I've done all the performing I need to do for the year... This was just one of 5 US tours, 2 Europe tours and 2 West coast tours over the past three years. Not to mention this new album "Lover, Let Me In" was the third to come out since '22!
So now I'm headed into classic hibernation mode as I collect scraps of inspiration from these worldwide treks to assemble yet another album. You'll be seeing a lot less of me on stages and social media as I focus on writing and recording. But I will be in touch via this website, my mailing list and my Patreon. As always, feel free to reach out.

Emerging from the wreckage of his childhood band The Pharmacy, SCOTT YODER arrived clad in a black cloak, stomping to the beat of his own sparkling tambourine. Over the course of four LPs & nearly a dozen singles he has toured the world, espousing a more personal distillation of his song craft. Nearly always on the road, he has honed his live act with a crunching, yet sensitive backing band of similarly-inclined misfits. This glitter-folk balladeer, adorned in mascara & bell bottoms invites you to sway to his entrancing charm.
